- Transfer Programs
What is the ACCESS Program?
- The goal of ACCESS is to ensure the retention, graduation, and transfer of its participants within three years by offering special support services to participants during the first year, (though services are available throughout enrollment at CCRI).
- To qualify, applicants must be a first-generation college student (neither parent has completed a bachelor’s degree), meet federal low-income guidelines, and/or have a documented disability.
How to Apply to ACCESS:
- Students must have applied to the college through the standard application process and be enrolled in a degree program to apply to Access. To submit the quick, one-page application to ACCESS, visit the following web page: http://www.ccri.edu/access/application.htm. You can contact Zelma Murray-Barclay with questions at (401) 825-2305 or at zimurraybar@ccri.edu.
What are the Transfer Programs?
- CCRI has “Transfer Articulation Agreements” with many 4-year colleges/universities throughout New England. These “Agreements” guarantee acceptance to the transfer school after completing 2 years at CCRI with a specified GPA. Click here for a list of schools you can transfer to after CCRI
- CCRI also has “Joint Admissions Agreements” (JAA) with RIC & URI for easy transfer after completing 2 years at CCRI with at least a 2.4 GPA. Click here for FAQs about the JAA
How to take advantage of the Transfer Programs:
- Students who are planning to transfer should begin planning during their first semester at CCRI. For information and planning help contact the Office of Advising and Counseling. Transfer Guides and copies of formal transfer agreements are available at the Office of Advising and Counseling, Learning Resources Centers and Enrollment Services, or at www.ccri.edu.
- To participate in the Joint Admissions Agreement, make an appointment to discuss JAA with an advisor at the Advising and Counseling Center at the CCRI campus you attend (in Providence, call 401-455-6063). Advisors have the JAA applications and you can fill out an application when you have your advising meeting.
- The JAA Academic Achievement Award gives you a tuition discount based on your Grade Point Average. The higher your GPA, the lower your tuition will be at RIC or URI.
